A tempting new offer from La Casona at Matetic Vineyards
Summer is now in full swing at Matetic, with visitors enjoying wine tours against the idyllic backdrop of the sun-soaked Rosario Valley, followed by lazy afternoons relaxing by the pool at La Casona. The new season began with a renewed commitment to service and guest experience; the hotel has now employed a full-time Concierge, on hand to ensure every element of a stay here exceeds your clients’ expectations.
Lots of exciting developments are in the offing for 2019; as a teaser we’re in the process of finalising a special offer which will treat your clients to complimentary upgrade from half-board to the full all-inclusive, however long they stay. They will get to enjoy the added benefits of one of La Casona’s superb outdoor excursions included in their stay, as well as a memorable lunch at the fine dining restaurant El Equilibrio. Full details and validity of this offer to follow very soon!
Carbon neutral in Costa Rica
Swiss Travel Costa Rica added another achievement to their collection last month – they are now officially certified carbon neutral! This followed a rigorous accreditation process by the EARTH University, and the recognition is extra special as Swiss Travel are currently the only DMC in the country to achieve this status across all their operations – including transport. Well done Swiss! The process involved significant reduction of annual carbon emissions as well as an ongoing commitment to offsetting the remaining carbon. They selected the Orosí Wind Power Plant in Liberia for the offsetting and have generated the equivalent power of the annual consumption of 5924 Costa Rican homes.
Reboot in rural Argentina
As the year draws to a close we are feeling pretty envious of all those lucky guests getting to spend Christmas and New Year at Estancia Los Potreros. They’ll be enjoying warm summer days in the Sierras Chicas, fuelled by copious amounts of food, wine and freshly-baked cakes.
2018 has been another busy year for Kevin and Lou with the inevitable arrival of more horses, dogs (Kevin is fighting a losing battle now) but also a brand new water filtration system. No more plastic water bottles at the estancia! Looking ahead to 2019 there will be the colourful local rodeo and folkloric music festival at nearby Jesus Maria to enjoy, as well July’s solar eclipse. Most important however, is simply another year of the same superb hospitality, food, wine, authentic Argentine traditions and immersion into the unforgettable landscapes of this rural idyll.
Shoulder season splendour in Patagonia
As Chile’s spectacular Torres del Paine National Park gets more popular than ever during the peak months, careful planning is crucial to ensure your clients get to experience the tranquility that Patagonia is so famous for. At Patagonia Camp you can already guarantee your clients a quieter side of the region. Set in a vast private reserve fringed with verdant native forest, waterfalls and shimmering Lake Toro, guests can take advantage of over 40 kilometres of walking trails exclusive to Patagonia Camp.
Many operators are also already familiar with the advantages of travelling in Patagonia’s shoulder season to achieve a quieter experience. Weather conditions are no barrier to visiting in Spring or Autumn (when it is actually less windy than the Patagonian summer), wildlife is easier to spot and visitors can enjoy the natural spectacles of vibrant autumn leaves or spring flowers. Patagonia Camp still has availability for this coming Autumn season – the camp closes on 6th May 2019. Alternatively you can get Spring stays booked in for 7th September 2019 onwards. Rates are also around 30% cheaper in April, May, September & October making these months more rewarding in every sense!
Cruise the Galapagos Islands in style
Anyone who has been fortunate to sail on the Galapagos Sea Star Journey will know just how special the experience is, but in 2018 the vessel won the accolade of South America’s Leading Boutique Cruise at the World Travel Awards – for the second year running! This really is no mean feat, given the competition in this sector. Looking ahead to 2019 Oonagh will be sharing some stories and tips from her recent cruise on the Sea Star Journey to give you even more insight when offering the experience to your clients. And don’t forget to check the offers page regularly for tempting deals! Some super special offers are currently available for 2019 including early bird rates and free Galapagos flights promotions.
International acclaim in Quito
Quito’s most intimate luxury hotel, Illa Experience Hotel, celebrated it’s first birthday in December – and what a first year it has been! Though it only opened its doors to guests in December 2017, the project was a long time in the planning and has been very much a labour of love for its owners. Their connection to the historic San Marcos neighbourhood of the city inspired a passion to share this special place with visitors, and the hotel has been very much a community project from the beginning. Local traditions passed down through generations are shared with guests as part of the hotel’s complimentary daily ‘Experience’ programme, and the tranquil surroundings of San Marcos offer guests a feeling of being the real Quito. Time Magazine shared this enthusiasm for Illa, recognising the hotel as one of the World’s Greatest Places to Stay 2018 . Come and visit Illa in 2019 to experience for yourself just what makes this hotel so special!
Machu Picchu Magic
2018 has been a very rewarding year for Inca Rail with the launch of their new 360° Machu Picchu Train, the luxurious refurbishment of the Private Machu Picchu Train as well as an attractive re-brand of all their services. To end the year in style we were delighted to see the 360° Machu Picchu Train achieve podium position in the Rail category at the prestigious National Geographic Reader Awards at a glamorous ceremony in Mayfair.
You can tailor your client’s perfect itinerary to Machu Picchu in 2019 with Inca Rail using the latest timetable here. 2019 rates on Inca Rail are available through your Peru DMC, priced according to the time of year.
